Instagram's QR code isn't on your main profile screen, which is why so many people can't find it. It lives a couple of taps deep in the menu, and on older app versions it has a different name entirely. Here's exactly where to look on both iPhone and Android.
Where the QR Code Lives
From your profile, tap the menu icon in the top corner of the screen. In the menu that opens, look for the QR code option. Tapping it brings up your personal profile code on screen. This path is the same on iPhone and Android in current versions of the app.
If You See "Nametag" Instead
Older versions of Instagram called this feature Nametag rather than QR code. If your menu shows Nametag, that's the same thing, your scannable profile code. Updating the app to the latest version usually renames it to QR code and refreshes the interface.
Still Can't Find It?
If neither option appears, your app is likely out of date, so update it from your app store and check again. Make sure you're looking in the menu opened from your own profile, not the general settings, since that's where the feature is tucked away.
An Alternative That's Always Available
If you'd rather not rely on the app's menu, you can always create your own code from your profile link with an Instagram QR generator. This works regardless of app version and gives you a downloadable, brandable code.
