The TikTok TV app lets you watch on the big screen, and it uses a QR code to link your account quickly instead of typing credentials with a remote. This is part of TikTok's own activation flow, not a code you generate yourself. Here's how it works and how to fix a failed activation.
How TV Activation Works
When you open TikTok on a smart TV, it displays an activation screen with a QR code and often a short code and web address. Scanning the QR code with your phone, or visiting the activation page and entering the code, links your logged-in account to the TV app so your feed appears there.
Scanning the Activation Code
Point your phone camera, or the TikTok app's scanner, at the code on the TV. It opens the activation page, where confirming on your phone authorizes the TV. Both your phone and TV need an internet connection for the link to complete.
If Activation Fails
If the code won't activate, make sure your phone is logged into the account you want, check that both devices are online, and refresh the TV screen to generate a new code if the current one has expired. Typing the short code on the activation web page is a reliable fallback when the scan won't catch.
A Note on Security
Only scan activation codes shown on your own TV during setup. Treat any activation prompt that appears unexpectedly, or that someone else sends you, with caution, since authorizing a device gives it access to your account. When in doubt, set it up manually instead. (This activation code is generated by TikTok itself; a profile TikTok QR code you create is unrelated and simply links to your profile.)
